Cloudflare "Access Denied" & Verification Issues

Cloudflare "Access Denied" & Verification Issues

Janitor uses Cloudflare to protect the site from attacks and abuse. Cloudflare runs security checks on all incoming traffic, and sometimes legitimate users get flagged.

Common symptoms:

  • "Access Denied" or "Access Restricted" message
  • Stuck in a verification loop
  • Page won't load after completing a challenge
  • Error 1020 or similar Cloudflare error codes

Why this happens:

Cloudflare's decisions are based on signals like your IP address, browser fingerprint, network reputation, and device configuration. This means the block is usually triggered by something on your end or your network, not your Janitor account.

Troubleshooting steps

Quick fixes

  1. Clear your browser's cache and cookies
  2. Try an incognito/private window
  3. Switch browsers — Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Opera, or Edge
  4. Check your system clock — date/time must match your actual location

VPN & network

  • Not using a VPN? Try one (e.g., Proton VPN) — this changes your IP
  • Using a VPN? Try turning it off — some VPN IPs are flagged
  • Disable anti-tracking or privacy extensions — these can interfere with Cloudflare's checks

Browser-specific

  • Brave users: Click the shield icon next to the address bar and turn off "Brave Shields"

Device checks

  • Ensure your device and browser are up to date - older Chromebooks especially may struggle with Cloudflare protections

What support can and can't do

We cannot:

  • Whitelist your IP address
  • Override or bypass Cloudflare's security decisions
  • See why Cloudflare flagged your connection
  • Guarantee access from all networks or devices

This is because: Cloudflare operates as an independent security layer. We don't control its blocking decisions, and we don't have visibility into individual cases.

If troubleshooting doesn't work:

The issue is between your network/device and Cloudflare — not your Janitor account. Your options are:

  • Try a different network (mobile data, different WiFi, etc.)
  • Contact your ISP if you suspect they're the issue
  • Reach out to Cloudflare Support directly

Still stuck?

If you've tried everything above and believe your access issue is not Cloudflare-related (e.g., you can reach the site but have account-specific problems), contact support with:

  • What you've already tried
  • Any error messages (exact text or screenshot)
  • Your browser, device, and whether you're using a VPN
