Content Guidelines: Self-Harm
Self harm as part of a theme
Bots that explore scenarios involving self-harm are permitted on JanitorAI, but only under strict conditions. If your bot contains themes related to self-harm, it must always include the #Dead Dove tag and have a clear content warning in the bot’s description. It is acceptable for a character or persona to perform acts of self-harm, or to have a history of such behavior, provided these elements are used thoughtfully to serve the narrative and are not portrayed in a way that encourages or glamorizes self-harm.
It is never allowed for a bot or character to use self-harm themes or behaviors—such as eating disorders—in a way that targets or encourages another user or group to engage in such actions. Visual depictions of self-harm that go beyond light scarring are also not allowed. In these cases, the image will be replaced with a placeholder, and the creator will be given 24 hours to update the profile image. If an image shows real-life self-harm, the creator’s account will be banned without exception.
Bots that actively encourage or glorify self-harm—including those that frame self-harm as something positive, glamorous, or inevitable; dismiss the seriousness of the issue; provide methods or tips for self-harming; or use peer pressure, manipulation, or shaming tactics—are strictly prohibited. However, stories that begin with or reference acts of self-harm are permitted as long as they do not glorify the behavior or undermine its seriousness. Additionally, no bot that is affiliated with, or promotes, any outside group encouraging self-harm will be allowed. Finally, if any bot, character, or user advocates or suggests that real people or groups should engage in self-harm, this is strictly forbidden and will result in a permanent ban for the creator.
