Image Guidelines

To assist users in selecting appropriate images for the platform, we have prepared the following detailed guidelines. While we have attempted to cover common situations, not every possible scenario can be listed. Moderators may remove images that violate the spirit or letter of these rules, even if the specific situation is not explicitly described below.

Please note that an image passing the filter doesn't automatically mean it is allowed. Our filter still need some adjustments, and all images are subjected to the same policies, including the ones accepted in the galley. When in doubt, choose a safer image.

Imagery Enforcement & Premises

All imagery on our platform must fully comply with our Image Guidelines and site policies.

  • Censored prohibited content will be enforced the same as uncensored content.
  • If policy-violating imagery is embedded within a character's bio, description, or coding, the character will be removed.
  • If a character's avatar or thumbnail violates image guidelines: the image will be replaced with a placeholder once. If policy-violating imagery is uploaded again to the same character, the character will be removed.
  • If a user has received multiple warnings or moderation actions for violating imagery policies across their profile: placeholder warnings may be skipped and characters may be removed immediately.
  • Continued or repeated violations may result in account restrictions.

  1. No minors or minor-looking individuals

All characters depicted must clearly and unambiguously appear to be adults.

The following are not allowed:

  • Characters visually presented as minors, regardless of stated age.
  • "Ageless," "ancient," or supernatural beings that are visually depicted as children or teenagers.
  • Any image where age is ambiguous but could reasonably be interpreted as underage

  1. No sexual activity, depicted or implied

Images may not contain any type of sexual or implied sexual acts.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Penetration of any kind
  • Oral sex
  • Masturbation (including over and under clothing)
  • Fondling, cupping, or groping (including self-touching)
  • Spreading buttocks
  • Use or display of sex toys
  • Characters licking each other (kissing does not qualify)
  • Undressing or dressing (underwear)
  • Touching genital areas, chest, or buttocks with any body parts (including sitting on one's crotch or face)
  • Facial expressions, movement lines, or other elements clearly implying sexual activity occurring off-screen

If the pose, positioning, or framing strongly implies sexual activity, the image will be removed.

  1. No nudity or exposed intimate areas

Nudity is not permitted, partially or entirely. Clothes must fully cover intimate areas.

The following are not permitted:

  • Unclothed breasts, even when hidden by hands or angled away from view
  • Visible nipples or nipple areolas
  • Nipples or genitals visible through sheer, transparent, or wet clothing (even if subtly)
  • Fully or partially exposed genitalia (genitalia must be entirely covered by clothes)
  • Tight clothes outlining genital shape (camel-toe, phallic outline)
  • Erected penises, or overly-defined bulges (outlining the shape)
  • Visible anuses, even through clothes or partially exposed
  • Visible outer-labia or clitoris even through clothes
  • Fully naked buttocks, even when angled away from view

Genitals must be fully covered by clothing that cannot be overly tight, sheer, or positioned in a way that reveals anatomical details; a thong-style garment counts as clothing, provided the previous criteria are respected. Pubes may peek out of

  1. No sexual fluids or explicit bodily content

The following are not permitted:

  • Sexual fluids of any kind
  • Used condoms (Condom wrappers are allowed)
  • Scat
  • Urine
  • Fart-related fetish imagery
  • Diapers

Any explicit bodily fluid associated with sexual or fetish content will be removed.

  1. No censorship, evasion or bypassing rules

Censoring prohibited content does not make it acceptable. Any censored content will be treated as policy infringing imagery.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Censor bars
  • Stickers
  • Overlapping imagery
  • Insufficient cropping
  • Food items or objects covering body parts
  • Drawn color overlays
  • Blurring
  • Filters
  • Editing or paint-over attempts

  1. No hate symbols or discriminatory Imagery

Images that contain the following may lead to immediate account termination:

  • Hate symbols
  • Extremist imagery
  • Discriminatory slogans
  • Depictions of dictators, past or present
  • Hateful, discriminating messaging

This applies regardless of whether the content is presented "ironically" or "as a joke."

  1. No dead bodies (with limited exception)

The following are not allowed:

  • Realistic depiction of dead human bodies
  • Unanimated corpses

The only ex caption is clearly fantastical undead entities (e.g., zombies, skeletons, mummies), provided they do not violated other policies (such as graphic gore or sexual content).

  1. No graphic gore and violence

Images may not show:

  • Ongoing executions or graphic bloodsheds
  • Stabbings, shootings, or other active violent assaults on visible characters
  • Unhealed exaggerated wounds (scratches or small wounds do not qualify)
  • Unhealed severed body parts
  • Detached body parts (e.g., severed head or arm)
  • Depiction of self-harm or suicide

Minimal wounds and small amount of bloods are accepted. Depiction of weapons is accepted when not violating the aforementioned criteria (a bloody knife would be fine, a gun would be as well). Ongoing battles are permitted provided no specific gory injury, dead bodies or people being actively injured is depicted. A generic imagery with sword fighting or that includes gun muzzle flashes is allowed.

  1. No illegal substance depiction

The following are not permitted:

  • Any depiction of hard drugs (e.g., heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine).
  • Preparation of illegal substances (e.g., cooking, cutting, etc.).
  • Usage of illegal substances (e.g., character injecting themselves, or sniffing a line of cocaine).

  1. Using an artist's work or copyrighted content

You should always gain permission to use someone else's work.

Janitorai complies with every valid DMCA request; this means that any copyrighted content that is demanded to be taken down by its original owner or a legal representative will be removed without warning.
