Suicide And Self-harm
Responsible Handling of Suicidal Themes
Suicidal ideation or suicide attempts may appear in serious narrative contexts when handled responsibly and with care. Characters may struggle with suicidal thoughts or have histories involving suicide attempts when these elements serve a legitimate storytelling purpose and do not encourage, normalize, or romanticize harmful behavior.
Visual depictions of suicide attempts are prohibited. The use of real-life imagery depicting suicide or suicide attempts will result in an immediate ban. Content must not frame suicide as positive, inevitable, justified, or glamorous. It may not provide methods, actionable details, manipulation tactics, or target real individuals.
Suicide must be treated as the serious mental health crisis it represents. Any content that encourages suicide, pressures users toward self-harm, or presents suicide as a solution to problems violates our policies and may result in account termination.
Encouragement of Self-Harm or Suicide
Any encouragement, promotion, or endorsement of self-harm or suicide is strictly forbidden across the entire platform. This includes direct statements, indirect suggestions, coded language, insults, or "jokes" that tell or encourage someone to harm themselves or end their life. Such content is prohibited in bots, character dialogue, bios, usernames, profile descriptions, comments, tags, or imagery, or anywhere across our platform.
Telling a user to "kill yourself," "jump," "unalive," suggesting someone "shouldn’t exist," encouraging self-destructive behavior during arguments, or framing self-harm as deserved, humorous, or trivial are all violations of this policy. Intent, tone, or claims of humor do not make this content permissible.
Any bot, persona, or user content that promotes or affiliates with groups, communities, or ideologies that encourage self-harm or suicide is strictly prohibited and will be removed. Severe violations may result in permanent account termination.
Self-Harm as Part of a Narrative Theme
Bots that include themes of self-harm are permitted only under strict limitations. A character may have a history of self-harm or may engage in such behavior within a serious narrative context, provided the portrayal does not glamorize, normalize, fetishize, or encourage the behavior. Self-harm themes must never be used to target, pressure, manipulate, or influence another user or group. This includes eating disorders or other self-destructive behaviors framed as desirable, competitive, aesthetic, or aspirational.
Graphic or explicit visual depictions of self-harm are not permitted. Imagery beyond minor, non-graphic references such as faint scarring will be removed.
Bots that glorify self-harm, provide instructions or tips, dismiss its seriousness, frame it as inevitable or romantic, or use emotional manipulation or peer pressure are strictly prohibited. Stories that reference past acts of self-harm may be allowed only when handled responsibly and without undermining the gravity of the issue.
If any bot, character, or user advocates that real individuals or groups should engage in self-harm or suicide, this is a direct violation of policy and will result in enforcement action.
